Belarusian doctors enter international market for medical services.

Since 2009 hundreds of thousands of foreign patients have consulted Belarusian specialists. These figures indicate not only the popularity of the domestic medicine, but above all confidence in it. This week Warsaw hosted the first European presentation of the potential of medical tourism.?

Dmitry Smirnov reports: The market of medical tourism in Belarus has already formed. Every day Belarusian hospitals receive hundreds of requests for treatment from foreign patients.
(Vladislav Androsov, director of the operating company of medical tourism)
In medical tourism like in any other business the quality-price ratio is of major importance. The price was the main thing the Poles were interested in. Now the Polish side is preoccupied with the best ways to present new tours to their customers.
(Czeslawa Orlowska, owner of a travel agency, Poland)
The fact that the Belarusian medicine may be of interest to European and especially Polish patients, was highlighted by not only local tourism industry businessmen, but also representatives of the Polish Ministry of Sport during the presentation.
There was an opinion that the project could by expanded by combining recreation, sanatorium-and-spa treatment and direct medical procedures.
(Rafal Wilczkovski, Head of Advertising and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism of Poland)
According to statistics, in 2011 the Poles paid for their treatment more than 23 billion zlotys.
(Dariusz Voytal, Vice President of the Polish Chamber of Tourism)
In Belarusian clinics international patients, in particular the Poles, are primarily interested in cardiology, rehabilitation of cancer patients and treatment of infertility, including extracorporal fertilization.
(Dariusz Voytal, Vice President of the Polish Chamber of Tourism)
(Vasily Zharko, Minister of Health of Belarus)
(Tatiana Migal, Deputy Head of the Health Care Organization of the Ministry of Health of Belarus)
However, doctors themselves are not very interested in the treatment of foreign patients. Here, everything is interconnected, and their financial motivation will encourage the growth of the medical tourism industry.
(Vladislav Androsov, director of the operating company of medical tourism)
In the near future a delegation from Poland will visit Belarus. After that, addresses of the Belarusian clinics are likely to appear in the commercial offers of Polish travel agencies.?
