Luanda ? The Angolan Vice President, Manuel Vicente, last Friday in Luanda received in an audience the Portuguese Defence minister, Jos? Pedro Aguiar Branco, with whom he discussed matters related to the co-operation between both countries, in the domain of defence and security, among other issues.
The Portuguese minister is in Angola since July 10, having already carried out several activities in the provinces of Luanda (northwest) and Benguela (centre-west). In Benguela the Portuguese official attended the main celebrations of the 37th anniversary of the Angolan Navy.
Speaking to the press, Jos? Pedro Aguiar Branco stated that Angola and Portugal can develop a solid relationship, take it to a new level, as well as explore different paths for the co-operation.
In the framework of the official visit, Angola and Portugal signed last Friday, in Luanda, protocols that are instruments of technical support in the area of defence, under the boosting of the co-operation level, ANGOP has learnt.
The documents were signed by the Angolan minister of National Defence, Candido Pereira dos Santos Van-D?nem, and his Portuguese counterpart, Jos? Pedro Aguiar Branco, who ended on Friday a three-day official visit to Angola.
Among the documents it is included co-operation protocols in the area of general inspection, the memo of understanding on military health, the bilateral technical accord in the domain of hospital supply, as well as a protocol on the use of Imperio hotel.
The documents came from a ministerial meeting held on Wednesday, in Lobito city, central Benguela Province.
